How Does Ketamine Make You Feel?
The effects of ketamine, which most clients find pleasant, last for approximately 45 minutes. Ketamine therapy often induces a unique physical sensation that many describe as a dream-like state.
Clients might feel a sense of detachment from their bodies, as if they’re hovering just above reality. There can be a gentle heaviness in the limbs, paired with a lightness that makes movement feel effortless yet surreal.
Some experience tingling sensations, particularly in the extremities, while others may encounter a profound numbness. This altered state can evoke a mix of warmth and coolness, creating a rich tapestry of sensations that can be both soothing and disorienting.
One client described ketamine therapy as floating in the space between consciousness and oblivion. Your motor and verbal abilities will be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience.
Once the effects subside, if indicated, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience. While it may feel hard to articulate what happens during the experience, patients feel like the insights gained are clear.
